Myers Cocktail IV – What’s the Hype?

If you ever looked into IV treatments, chances are you've probably heard the term "Myer's Cocktail" thrown around more times than one. So, what's all the hype about?

John Myers, M.D.,—An Alternative Medicine Pioneer

Myer's Cocktail was actually one of the first examples of how IV's can successfully treat and relieve symptoms for patients with a variety of chronic conditions. The late John Myers, M.D., the treatment's founder, and namesake helped treat many patients with chronic conditions from his Maryland practice.

Myers helped treat patients with conditions such as acute asthma attacks, migraines, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, acute muscle spasms, seasonal allergies, and cardiovascular diseases. He noted that the treatment helped improve athletic performance as well. Even though the therapy was named after Dr. John Myers, the practice was made popular by Alan Gaby, M.D., who successfully helped treat hundreds of chronic patients using the Myer's Cocktail throughout his career.

How it Works

Myers observed that patients with chronic conditions were not receiving adequate nutrients needed to get back to good health when orally supplementing, with noticeable amounts of vitamins lost through digestion. This was critical, as many diseases and inflammation cause the body to use these nutrients at a faster rate.

Since the Myers Cocktail is delivered intravenously, it bypasses the digestive system. It works by increasing the blood concentration of several essential vitamins and minerals. These vitamins and minerals are injected directly into the bloodstream rather than orally to promote almost 100% bioavailability. In fact, in a case study funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and the National Institutes of Health, patients who supplemented vitamin C intravenously had 50 times greater the amount of vitamin C in the bloodstream than those who supplemented orally.

A nurse inserts a small catheter into the vein, and the patient receives the infusion over 30-45 minutes. Surprisingly, side effects are almost nonexistent, with the main one reported being mild discomfort. Patients are advised to continue the treatment at least once per week for four weeks. Results are most noticeable after the third or fourth visit.

What are the benefits?

Some patients feel an energy boost that can last anywhere from 24 to 72 hours after treatment administration. Patients with chronic conditions such as acute asthma and congenital heart disease responded to treatment with added energy and fewer symptoms. Those with weakened immune systems reported improved immuno-responses and were less susceptible to infectious diseases.

The Myers Cocktail is for Everyone

You don't need to have a chronic condition to reap the benefits of the Myers Cocktail. This synergistic combination of magnesium, calcium, B-vitamins, and vitamin C ingredients is perfect for anyone who finds themselves fatigued, burnt out, or under stress.
